The best UK wedding venues

Forget any preconceived ideas you may have about treehouses – this is next level luxury, nestled 35 feet up in the New Forest.

Book both of the Yew Treehouses (Great Yew and Little Yew) at Chewton Glen and you’ll get a combined space of 167 square metres – enough room to host an intimate wedding party of ten if seated for dinner (on the wrap-around deck or inside) or more if you prefer drinks and canapés. You’ll also have space to sleep 12 (four adults and eight children) but if it’s privacy you want, the main house is a two-minute golf buggy ride away, where there are another 58 bedrooms for guests to choose from.

Each treehouse comes with its own very well-fitted kitchen (dishwasher, full sized fridge, Nutribullet, roaring wood burner, coffee machine and a vast array of posh snacks) but Great Yew has a separate service kitchen for a private chef.

Interiors are in keeping with the great outdoors; soft greens, greys and pale neutrals to blur the lines between inside and out. There’s underfloor heating, a marble bathroom, a giant walk-in shower and a super-charged hot-tub on the deck.

Wake to birdsong and the gymnastic displays of grey squirrels, safe in the knowledge that breakfast has already arrived. The treehouses are fitted with a clever hatch that allows your concierge to silently slide your delivery into a kitchen cupboard without ever needing to disturb you. Once you’ve devoured freshly-baked pastries, fruit salad, yoghurt, cereals and juice, you can hop in a buggy yourself and head to the spa for a reviving swim or, if summer has arrived, the outdoor pool.

If your pooch has a starring role in the wedding ceremony, you’ll love that fur babies are also welcome in the treehouses – they’ll be treated to their own velvet bed, mat and bowls, treats, mineral water and bathing products.

The main hotel has all the room options a more traditional wedding set up may need (including a fabulous wine room where you can dine amongst the vintages) but if small and super-luxe is your thing, head to the trees.
