George W. Bush and Ellen DeGeneres Discuss the Poncho Photos From Trump's Inauguration Day

The true highlight of Donald Trump's inauguration? George W. Bush's struggle with a rain poncho. As he sat in the crowd for the ceremony, the 43rd U.S. President engaged in an adorably honest and hilarious hassle with his rain gear—an innocent moment the internet quickly turned into a meme.

The former POTUS smiled about the incident during the ceremony, but when he visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show today to promote his new book, he finally responded to the situation.

"Have you put a poncho on? Is that the first time?" Ellen asked.

"Yeah. It looks like it!" Bush joked, while chuckling in chair.

While the former president was the subject of memes on inauguration day, he isn't the only Bush who's had trouble with ponchos. His mother, Barbara Bush, has suffered the same problem in the past. (She and George H.W. Bush were not present at Trump's swear-in, since they were both in the hospital.)

"It really must run in the family," DeGeneres said.

To make sure he doesn't run into the same issue again in the future, the host gifted him with a presidential poncho with some very useful directions.
